Speed and Efficiency

eStar client, Briscoes, are constantly exploring ways to streamline fulfilment operations and came to eStar wanting a solution to improve picking productivity.

The primary objectives were to increase the speed and accuracy of picking while reducing labour cost and picking errors. The solution was to make the process fully digital, using handheld devices, and moving away from manual paper-based processes.

eStar’s Digital Picklist is an extension of the Order Management and Fulfilment module that is easily configured and compatible with a range of handheld devices.

Outcomes

  • New and part time staff can pick up a device and begin picking, using the product image and scanning the item to validate it is correct. Little product knowledge is required.
  • Interface is easy to use and quickly learned.
  • Pickers can create multiple picklists while on the shop floor, reducing trips to a computer to create a new list.

Digital picking is a lot quicker and saves a lot of paper compared to creating and printing lists. It’s great that you can click the photo to make it bigger and have the image in colour compared to black and white on paper.”

Briscoe Group

Digital picking is more time and resource-effective.It also allows pickers to instantly know that they have the correct item (instead of picking the wrong thing and finding this out later when allocating).”

"With digital picking, it's almost impossible to make a mistake. The application is so simple to use and has drastically reduced the time in the entire process."
